7th-Grader says Most US Presidents Related
A seventh-grader and her 80-year-old grandfather are allegedly the first people to discover that President Barack Obama is related to all other U.S. presidents except one. picked by bingo 1 month ago

Does this mean that all those other Presidents weren't citizens either? Holy crap, we've been being run by illegals the whole time!

Isn't John Plantagenet, the signer of the Magna Carta, widely considered one of the worst kings in English history? His signing of the Magna Carta, although considered a good thing today, was actually because he was such a screw up...

IDK, but being related to HIM isn't necessarily a good thing when talking about the leadership of our country...

Neither is being related to Cheney.

Not amazing. Due to the plagues and such, all people of western European descent are no more than 12th cousins.

I'm directly related to John Platagenet, Margaret Boleyn, Robert the Bruce and, according to Ancestry.com, Joseph of Arimathea! I also found royal Windsors from Wales in my line. Get out of my chair, Lizzie!

My husband is directly related to many Roman emperors, Attila the Hun, John Platagenet, and Antony and Cleopatra! We have many of the same names in our genealogies, as both our mothers have British ancestry.

If you can trace your genealogy to prior to 1500, you will also find that you are related to many royals...

You cannot possibly be serious about this. Do you think that ineptitude is a genetically inherited trait? Just because he is related to a screw up who died almost 1000 years ago, that means he isn't fit to run the country?

Ugh. I hope this was a joke. Really I do.

The birthers are still right, though. It just turns out none of the presidents of the US were actually eligible.

When I was doing some genealogy research a couple of years ago, I found out that if you are white and of European descent, there is about a 90% chance that you can trace your line directly back to Charlemagne. Just an FYI.

Technically speaking, and this is technically, since they're all related would that not make them some form of a dynasty? Which according to the constitution, history books, etc was what we were trying to get away from in merry ol' England?

I'm just saying, something smells very fishy here.

If it's a dynasty, it's only in the broadest of broad senses (and most of America would be part of it), and it's a weird one, because they were elected by a vote instead of appointed based on bloodlines.

Wait...what exactly is it that smells fishy here? It's just genealogy. Go back far enough and we are all related.
