Score one for science, and one for those who will potentially benefit from this research!

Many of their members are "prescribing" dope in ever increasing numbers. The dispensaries are popping up like weeds (no pun intended), and a recent Plime story discussed an Oregon cafe where "medical" users can smoke openly.

It's about time. Of course the DEA is still ignoring it, but is that surprising to anyone?

Why can't we just legalize it? It has many benefits, and not as many hazards as alcohol. It isn't addictive (in a physical sense) you can't overdose on it, and I have never heard of a man getting stoned then beating on his wife.

I once saw a news clip of people lining up to get free medical marijuana from a clinic in California(I think) and all the people in line were normal everyday people. When the news guy asked some of the people why they had medical marijuana cards he got answers like "I have chronic neck pain" and "I have trouble sleeping", not answers like "I have AIDS and it helps me eat" or "I have glaucoma and it slows the progress". I think that legalizing it for medical use is actually going to slow the process of getting it legalized for recreational use. It's not like pharmaceutical companies are putting prescription drugs on the shelf and making them available to the public, why would they start with marijuana. We need to take weed out of the hands of pharmaceutical companies and give it to a company like Phillip Morris, then it will be made available to everyone, though they may add chemicals to actually make it addictive, like they did to cigarettes.
