The model for famous "tennis girl" picture revealed.
The model for famous "tennis girl" picture revealed.
The model behind the famous "tennis girl" picture has revealed that she has little interest in tennis, had to borrow the gear from friends and family, and that the tennis balls were for her dog.

And though it is one of the most famous pictures ever taken, she has not made a single penny from it. picked by kelephon 2 weeks ago

I would think it would have been very easy for her to get money

Elliott went on to sell the image rights to Athena but retained the copyright, earning him an estimated 250,000 in royalty payments. Two million copies were sold worldwide.

Couldn't any 1/2 way decent attorney had been able to get Elliott to give her some sort of payment?

I think she ended up marrying a millionaire anyway, so she probably wasn't too fussed in all.

ah, that would explain it. I can see where marrying a millionaire would make going after the ex-boyfriend for a bit of cash pointless. This would be even more true when you take into account she didn't want the publicity back then. I imagine the rich husband was also not too keen on word getting out

Yeah while background googling and general perving I discovered that the name of the model was already well known. I think the "revealed" part is the added detail about her, i.e. the lack of interest in tennis.

I don't know, I'll leave it up to you greater plimates to decide if this is a dupe or not.

Well she is 52 now. Maybe some of the visual evidence has shifted.

The photo rights belong to the photographer. There could be an argument that the personal image belongs to the model. That is why photographers have the models sign a release. Pretty standard practice. That is why the lovely and talented Ms. Monroe never saw a dime from the magazine her pictures launched (Playboy). The photographer owned the photos and sold them to Hef.
